Annebella walked down the road, she knew where she was, if only for her echolocation. She was close to the school, almost to the main gate. The fence jutted up on one side and road on the other. She had only left for a little bit, just to meet someone for tea. The silk dress flowed attractively as she walked, the ballet flats on her feet not making a sound as they met the cement of the sidewalk.
A car seemed to come up the road from behind Ana, she insinctively moved closer to the fence, her hand moving along the cold metal to let her know that she was away from the street. The car came closer but slowed as it got close. It was odd that they would slow like that, unless they were heading to the school. But as they got along side her they slowed to keep pace with her steps.
A male voice rang out a yell at her from the direction of the car. "Look at the poor mutie, where is your friends. No one care about you. Are you exiled?" He jeered at her. He began laughing and two other guys joined into the chorus. Ana paid the insults no attention but kept walking. Then another voice chimed in. "Hey are you deaf or are you just stupid? We are talking to you." She bit her lip and kept moving. SHe couldn't be that far from the gate. All she needed to do was get inside.
Ana listened as the car stopped and three doors opened and footsteps came up behind her. A hand wrapped itself around her hair that was curled into loose ringlets and yanked her back until she collided into his chest with a yelp of pain. He stepped back and let her fall to the ground. Another guy grabbed her by the throat and rose her to her feet before slamming her into the metal bars, opening a wound in her head allowing blood to seep into her hair. The other guy punched her in the stomache and the first guy hit her across her face. When they guy let her throat go she fell to the ground in a mess of tears.
"Leave me alone." She spoke quietly. Trying to get up off the ground. "Why don't you fight back? Don't you have powers like the rest of the freaks?" One of the men spoke. She looked up at them, her glassy eyes fogged up by the tears she shed. "I am not going to fight you." She spoke calmly. She had never been a fighter. SHe was too peaceful. Had always been that way. One of the guys smirked and another chuckled. "That isn't fun." One of them said as a foot was shoved into her side. She let out a ear-splitting scream of pain as another foot slammed down on one of her arms and a snap was heard. The men backed up a bit with the loud noise that came from the delicate girl's throat. Then laid into her abuse more.

Hal always kept his mind open for any possible trouble on the grounds and near the school. So when heard the out of place thoughts he focused harder. That’s when he felt the anger, the physical pain, the sadistic pleasure, the fear, the confusion. It took him a moment to realize it was one of the students of the school in trouble, but he left his post in a flash. Wearing his normal outfit of old jeans, an t-shirt (Aerosmith band tee), and his leather jacket, he really didn’t appear to be the Head of Security at first glance. No, he didn’t have to wear a uniform. His very demeanor gave off the necessary vibe. It helped that a monster worst than the average human could ever find to fear was him in a very bad mood.
Sometimes it was good to have another side that could give off the power and vibes to scare anything and everything in your path. He appreciated the beast in that sense. It didn’t mean he liked the damn thing. No, he just respected it. So there he was heading to wear the trouble was. He didn’t know who exactly it was at first, not giving himself anytime to focus on who was in trouble. No, it wasn’t until that scream rang in his ears that he knew who it was. He was still on the grounds but the sound shook his whole body. Ana was the one in trouble. Swearing under his breath, he picked up speed.
He almost completely lost it when he saw the three guys beating her. He could feel his eyes change as he pulled out his gun and taser. His skin was tingling and his body buzzed. The beast wanted out. He couldn’t allow that to happen. If Ana wasn’t on the ground being beaten to a pulp, he wouldn’t have fought so hard to keep the beast at bay. That didn’t mean he was opposed to shooting the bastards. He had his taser and gun for that very purpose. It would be far quicker to drop them that way if the need arose.
“Freeze!” he exclaimed. “Step away from away form the girl and don’t even think about getting in that car.”
They should have listened. Anything with half a brain would’ve, but these guys were idiots and just kept on beating her. So, Hollywood tasered the prick who appeared to be the leader just because Hal was feeling a tad bit sadistic but didn’t want to risk scaring Ana anymore than she already was by firing his gun. Soon as the alpha prick dropped the other two froze like lost puppies. Hollywood wasted no time. He frisked all three of the punks before calling for back-up. It didn’t take long at all really. One of his staff showed up barely five or so minutes later with one of the school cars.
“Take them downtown,” he grumbled. “Don’t leave the precinct until I call.”
Hollywood turned to Ana then, not even waiting to see if his orders were being obeyed. None of his staff ever bulked on his instructions. No they always listened. Hal never did anything without a good reason and those who worked for him respected that. Ana was one of the exceptions of all his general rules. Normally when a student was hurt or attacked like she had been, he would’ve picked them up in his arms and taken them to the hospital wing. It was just faster that way. Since Annabella was blind and had just been jumped, he was a lot more careful. The last thing he wanted to do was scare her more than she was. So he just stood there and spoke to her, waiting to see.
“Do you think you can walk or would you like help?” he asked.

Ana laid there allowing the men to beat her. She knew if she would fight back they would get a rouse from it. No she wouldn't give them that kind of satisfaction. She knew her arm was broken from the snap that sounded when one of the guys stomped on it. SHe also knew she would be bruised within the next hour or so. She had always been frail, ever since birth. SHe bruised way to easily. But the one thing she couldn't get her mind away from was, did anyone hear my scream? If no one heard her, she was doomed.
Ana didn't register the new voice right away. But when she pinpointed it, she knew she would be okay. Hal was really sweet with her. He was usually the one to make sure she was okay. He was also the one that had brought her to the school. SHe trusted Hal. Was closest to Hal. So even if Hal sounded angry at the men, she knew it wasn't directed at her. SHe knew he was trying to help her. And that alone was a comfort.
Are they that dumb? Ana asked herself when they didn't stop hurting her after Hal told them too. She braced herself for the gunfire that Hal favored so much, but it never came. Instead she heard the humming of electricity coming from the taser he owned. A body hit the ground not long after that, the vibrations reaching her skin. But still she laid there on the cement unmoving. SHe wouldn't move unless Hal said it was alright. SHe knew how to listen to commands. She would rather follow orders than give them. That making her the worse royal in the world, or maybe the most gracious.
When Hal spoke again she looked up. She couldn't see because of her blindness, but she always made it seem as if she could. Her brown eyes were visible, even though they were glassy. She rolled over and gripped the fence with her good arm and tried to pull herself up. But soon her legs buckled and she found herself sitting on the cement again. So she did the one thing that came as instinct. SHe held out her hand to him. "Please?" SHe asked knowing she really didn't have to ask.

The unavoidable kiss, where the minty fresh Death breath is sure to outlast this catastrophy Dance with me, because if you've got the poison, I've got the remedy
Hal was fuming. Really he was pissed, which was never a good thing. No, this was a very bad thing. He was going to end up losing it if he wasn’t careful. So before he took Ana’s hand to help her back to the school, he took a moment to collect himself. Soon as he felt his eyes switch back to normal, he took a hold of her and led her toward the grounds. He didn’t say a word until they were safely past the gates.
No, he took that time to run down the list of those he normally had watching her. Adam was supposed to be assigned to her today, but he was out sick. The others had already had other assignments. He would’ve watched Ana himself, but he had too much to do. He had been forced to assign one of his newer men to her. Which one had it been? He had a hard time recalling it, but in the end he remembered it had been Devon. That man was a lot younger than Hal, and had the attention span of a five year-old, but Hal had no one else who was free.
“Where’s Devon?” he asked her after the long silence.
He always had his men introduce themselves to her and made it clear that leaving her was not an option. He may be a tad lenient when it came to her on the grounds, but when she left, he would not be. Someone was to be with her at all times. There was no exception, and this was the perfect example of why. So the introductions were mandatory for two reasons. One was so Ana knew them. Two was so if something happened to her, he knew who to yell at and fire without having to put too much effort in figuring it out.
“Did he ever come to you at all?”
Why did Hal get the feeling the man ditched his duties or just got the wrong girl? Oh right, because the kid seemed to have a problem listening and taking orders. Well, Hal knew who he was going to fire tonight. That was just too bad, so sad. NOT! Hollywood didn’t give a rat’s rear about that. He expected his people to follow his orders to a T. He had no patience for screw ups.

Ana smiled softly when she felt Hal's tough skin touching that of her own hand. She felt him help her to her feet but she soon found herself leaning towards him until she stopped as she was leaned up against his chest. She had never been this vulnerable, not since he had found her in the tree. That was not long ago really. Maybe a few months. She felt safe with Hal, safe than she felt with his worker drones. They weren't as careful as he was. They were only concerned about following orders, and Hal was concerned about her. Ana could tell when a person's motives were true. She didn't like anyone that Hal assigned to her. But never did she complain about it. She just wasn't that kind of person.
Ana stayed quiet, waiting on him to say the first word. SHe knew she was safe with him. SHe liked to stick close to him when he was with her. If anyone didn't know them, they would think they were an item. But Hal was like a big brother to Ana. SHe never had siblings so she liked having a brother figure to care for her. So she cherished every moment she got with him whether alone or in a group.
"Devon?" SHe asked thinking for a moment trying to remember. "Oh, he came to my room and at the time I hadn't thought of going anywhere. But an hour later i decided I wanted to get out for a little bit. And well, I didn't know where to find him." SHe spoke softly. She thought it was more her fault than his. She didn't want to be the reason the boy lost his job.
"I'm sorry. I should have found you first. It is my fault. I payed the consequence." She felt really bad about it all. Maybe she should have stayed on grounds. None of this would be happening if she had stayed here. So somehow she felt at blame for it.

Ana nodded. "Don't be too angry with him though. Please?" SHe asked him as she clung to his arm with her own uninjured arm. "I know your probably a little angry with him, but he seemed like a sweet boy and I really did have to convince him to go. I really had planned to sit inside my room at the time and thought it pointless for him to sit there bored." She smiled softly as she leaned her head against his body. "Thank you Hal. For everything you do. You really are my savior." SHe spoke softly going with him to the infirmary. SHe would follow him to the edge of the world and back. She trusted him fully. He had brought her to safety and delivered her from a world that would have her killed.
Ana jumped when she heard the knock. But she knew that she was safe because she could still feel Hal next to her. If he was there, she was safe. Then she heard the woman's voice. She sounded a bit snippy. And instantly Ana knew she didn't want to be alone with her. "Can he stay? Please?" SHe asked her. She really didn't mind him being there and really, she felt safer with her around. She knew if he was there, she was safe.

Hollywood really wasn’t the type of person forgive faults of other people when the reasoning behind it all was ignorance and indifference. He couldn’t help it, but yeah those type of people really didn’t get on his good side. Ever. It was just the way it was. He didn’t think Devon deserved to be let off easy for this, but he knew the kid was too good to be fired so soon. So Hollywood sighed in acquiescence.
He grunted softly at the word ‘savior.’ He had never saw himself as anyone’s savior. He was far too unreliable for that. He was volatile. He dangerous. He was lethal, and no one could control him if and when he lost it. He was no one’s savior. He just wanted to make things that he had already messed up right. He had killed so many innocent people it was a wonder why Aisilyn trusted him to keep her students and staff and refugees safe. Hal just didn’t understand it.
That was one of the reasons Desideria didn’t like him. She knew what he was capable of and it scared. First, she was not a mutant and second she had no means to defend herself. Not much could bring him down when he turned. It was why Hal always tried to be fun-loving and well a goof. Sadly, Desi didn’t trust him and wasn’t the goofing type. He didn’t like making anyone, especially this particular non-mutant, uncomfortable. So when he heard Ana request that he stayed with he looked over at Desideria.
”Okay,” she said. ”No goofing off, Hal. I’m serious.”
“No problem,” he said.

Ana thought Hal was the nicest guy in the world. He cared about her the way most people didn't. He knew she had a disability and he treated it with delicacy. But sometimes she wished he wouldn't worry so much. SHe was still a mutant and had some defense. Sure it didn't help her much today, but most the time it did.
Ana heard the woman say Hal could stay. It made her happy. But she still did not let go of his arm. SHe wanted to make sure he stayed. She felt safe and strong with him there. Her arm hurt and it felt hot. By the internal feeling in it, she guessed it was swollen to. Sure if she could see she would be able to tell for sure, but she had to just rely on the knowledge she had of the way her body worked.

The unavoidable kiss, where the minty fresh Death breath is sure to outlast this catastrophy Dance with me, because if you've got the poison, I've got the remedy
Hal led Ana to one of the beds, not saying a word for once. Desideria wasn’t a mean person at all. She just knew more than most exactly what he was capable of . Hell, she had tried to help him figure out a way to suppress the beast. She had even restrained his sorry Godzilla-ass a time or two. That was the reason she didn’t trust. He could tear her apart and not even realize he was doing it. Her tenseness was defensive and all survival instincts.
He helped Ana onto the bed and sat down beside her on one of the more uncomfortable chairs next to it. He didn’t let go of her. He just stayed there and made sure she knew he was there. If she wanted to let go of his hand, she would. He knew Ana well and the fact that she wasn’t comfortable around Desi made Hollywood’s protectiveness jump into action. So he wasn’t going to make her even more uncomfortable by taking away her security blanket, which in a sense was exactly what Hal was to the girl. He was the only one she truly trusted, and he knew it.

Ana never once let go of Hal. She couldn't. SHe was scared. She didn't know what was going to happen, or where she was. She didn't know this woman who seemed mean to the one person she valued most here. So she did stick to him like glue. Her soft hands were holding onto his tightly, but not enough to bother anyone. sHe wasn't much in the strength department.
Ana eased onto the bed carefully. She was trying to keep from hitting her arm where most her pain was at, but fate wouldn't have that. SHe ended up hitting it trying to readjust herself. and when that happened she had to let out a little whimper from the pain. Her eyes were a little teary and she just wanted to crawl into bed where she knew she was safe across the hall from Hal.

The unavoidable kiss, where the minty fresh Death breath is sure to outlast this catastrophy Dance with me, because if you've got the poison, I've got the remedy
Hal watched as Desi worked quickly and carefully on Ana. She cleaned all the cuts and scrapes and then turned to the injured arm. It was indeed broken, and Hal watched as she set the bone and put the arm into a cast. He zoned out after that. Well for a few minutes at least. He wasn’t in the infirmary often, hadn’t been in a while. The last time he had been there was after the beast came out. That last time he had stayed bedridden for about three days. Desideria had taken then to draw blood. He was too out of it too change on her then.
”Hal?” she broke the silence with a much softer tone than what she normally used with him. “Do you mind if I draw some more blood from you. I need to run some more tests.”
He blinked at her. He hadn’t realized she had finished with Ana. That was either very quick or he had been more out of it than he though he was.
“Sure,” he said with absolutely no emotion in his voice. “Just be careful.”
Desi gave him that duh stare as he held out his arm to her. Yeah depending on the amount of pain he was in, he could turn. Usually needles didn’t do it, but all it took was a little bit of carelessness to make it happen. Luckily, Desi was never careless and she stuck him so precisely that he felt nothing but a pinch.

Ana had to bite her lip hard to keep from screaming as Desi set her bones. But that didn't stop her from whimpering and crying. It hurt, really bad. Ana wasn't in pain like this often. Her grip on Hal's hand grew tighter. And when it was done, Ana let out a sigh. She didn't like this pain, and she was hoping she wouldn't feel it again.
When she heard the nurse ask Hal for blood to run tests, Ana looked over at him with her blank, glassy stare. "Hal? Why does she need to run tests? Are you ill?" SHe didn't understand. Hal had always seemed fine to her. Did he fake it all? Was it all a lie to make her not worried? Well she definitely was worried now. "I don't want you to be sick." sHe spoke after a long pause. Her face shone the worry she was feeling full force.

The unavoidable kiss, where the minty fresh Death breath is sure to outlast this catastrophe Dance with me, because if you've got the poison, I've got the remedy
Hal froze as Ana spoke to him. Ah fuck! He had forgotten she was there for a second. Damn. He could sense her worry and concern. He hated that, because chances were it would get back to Raven. He never kept much from her, but he didn’t really like talking about the beast. He frowned a little. He really did hate the damn thing so it was not really surprising that only a select few knew about it. He looked at Desideria before he focused on Ana.
“I’m not sick, Ana,” he assured he. “Desideria is just trying to help me understand one of my... mutations.”
Yes he caught the tiny catch in his tone. He didn’t like the beast and whenever he talked about it — even when he tried his hardest to hide it — he couldn’t. No there was always that little hint of hatred in his voice. It didn’t matter to him if anyone noticed. No, he only cared that no one got hurt because of the damn thing. His cell vibrated and he pursed his lips as he answered it.
“Hollywood,” he said all business. “I’m on my way. Ana, I gotta go for a few, okay? Desi will take excellent care of you while I’m gone and I’ll be back in about fifteen minutes.”
Desideria tried her hardest to stay out of the conversation. Sure she wasn’t comfortable around Hal all that much but she knew that he wasn’t going to hurt anyone the way he was right now. He was still annoying sure, but he wasn’t deadly until you pissed him off. Desi saw that as a very good thing because the beast was bad enough. Yes, she had witnessed him turn many times.
So Desi always tried to find the side that said he wasn’t as terrifying as the beast. Did she like his company? No, not most of the time. She was very serious. She didn’t like mixing work and play. Hollywood was normally all jokes, all the time. It was highly annoying to her so she would get snippy and irritated easily.
“I will keep her happy and occupied until you get back,” she said, smiling a little in reassurance.
She knew how Hal was with the students particularly those like Lilli and Ana. The underdogs, so to speak. He made sure they were always treated just right and then some. He never left them hanging.

Ana nodded. SHe wouldn't push if he said he was fine. But she worried about those she was close to. She had a gentle heart and hated it when the people she was close to was hurt. But then again, Hal was a big boy and he could take care of himself. She just, wanted him to be ok. Because if Hal wasn't there, Ana would be lost.
When he said he had to go for a little bit and leaving her there, Ana felt a little fear. No, she didn't want him to leave her here, but she wouldn't tell him that. Instead she put on a soft smile that wavered only slightly. "Alright, do what you need to do. Hurry back." sHe spoke softly. She was a gentle and caring girl, She wouldn't keep anyone away from something else. If he had to go, then he had to go. SHe couldn't go with him to do his job and if he took her to her room first, then that was wasting his time that he needed for work.
Ana moved her head to look at the woman, even though she couldn't see her, she could look that way. And then she moved her head back to where Hal was. "I will be alright." sHe smiled hoping to reassure him. She didn't need him worrying about her while he was working. It would hinder his performance and he could get hurt. She didn't want that.
