Power name: Enhanced Senses
Type: Physical
Origin: Unknown
Usage Cost: None
Weakness:
* Can be incapacitated by loud noises
* Can hurt herself a bit easier then most due to her hyper sense of touch
Description: Casey has enhanced sense of smell, hearing, touch, sight and feel. She is hyper sensitive to textured and how things feel. And she can hear or see or smell things within a 2 mile radius on a good day with the right winds and nothing in the way. The more things in the way, the shorter the distance she can hear, smell or see things.That all of your days are numbered;
Appearance: Casey’s skin has a tan all over her body through years of being outdoors. And her voice carries a thick Southern drawl. She has her ears pierced for earring but that’s about it with the piercings. And she has a small paw print tattoo on both her wrists. She sees it as a symbol of the wolf that’s on the inside. Her body is very proportionate with her arms and legs not seeming too long or short. And she may seem lean but she is packed with muscles. Her dark brown hair is almost always kept in a ponytail or a loose bun or something of the sort but for the rare times that it’s down, it goes to the bottom of her shoulder blades. She oftentimes straightened it but naturally it’s very wavy and rather unmanageable thus why she straightens it all the time. The most unique feature to Casey’s body is her eyes. For a reason yet unknown, but it is thought to have been brought on by her mutation, she has two colored eyes. One of them is a hazy gray coloration and the other a dark emerald green. Some people find it rather odd and slightly creepy but Casey has learned to live with it.
She’s not a fancy kind of gal when it comes to clothing. She only wears formal wear when absolutely necessary. And then she’ll go all out. But she is often seen wearing flip flops, a pair of black or blue jeans, a tank top or a t shirt in various colors and her black sunglasses. She wears those glasses to avoid trouble when out on the streets because of her bi-colored eyes. When she is exercising out which she does often, she will wear tennis shoes (or course…can’t jog in flip flops!), a pair of shorts and a tank top.
Personality: Casey is a kind and very compassionate person…one of the most nice people most she meets have ever seen. She is always very helpful. She would give you the shirt off her back if she saw that you needed it more then she did. She is always there for her friends. She is a great listener…listening to anyone who just needs to talk. And if she can, she’ll try to help them through their problems. She’s just like that. She will do whatever she can to help you whenever she can. She will literally put her life on hold to help someone who truly needs it.
But she is also very shy and a bit of an introvert. She's the one that would be sitting at a table in the corner by themselves. Of if she has to sit with people, she avoids eye contact and doesn't speak unless spoken to. She doesn’t trust anyone at first. She doesn’t know if they are going to hurt her or betray her. She tends to snap at people a bit when they first meet. So she may seem a bit standoffish at first but once you get to know her, you’ll have a friend for life.
Casey is not good under pressure at all. She’s the kinda person that needs someone there to take charge and to tell everyone else what to do. She is by no means a leader at all. And if you were to ask her to lead a group, she would be very reluctant to. She does not see herself as a motivational person that can inspire other people to do something and to make a difference. And she panics rather easily. Panics only because she doesn’t want people to get hurt or die. And when she’s in a big fight, she knows getting hurt is just something that’s going to happen.
Romantically speaking Casey is like a fish out of water. She hasn’t allowed herself to get close to anyone mainly due to a fear of getting betrayed. She thinks everyone is like her grandparents in that sense. She doesn’t quite get that not everyone has the same mind set as the people who has hurt her or betrayed her. But yes, she has definitely lost some of her faith in humans. Plus she doesn’t want to get into a relationship only to get abused or kicked out because they find out she is a mutant. So she gets nervous and a bit flustered around people who show a lot of affection towards her thinking that they just want something in return.
History: Casey and her brother, Lance were born in a small suburb of Houston, Texas where they happily lived the first twelve years of their lives. It was a normal life where their dad worked long hours to get the money needed to support his family and their mom stayed home to take care of them. Even then money was tight but that was okay with the small family. It was a peaceful neighborhood where everybody knew everybody. Nothing of great importance ever happened in this small town and if it did then everyone knew about it! Casey had what you might call ‘the fairy tale’ life. She had parents who loved her, a brother whom she would give her life for, a roof over her head, clothes, food and great friends. She was an honor student at the local school and was in line to get a scholarship; she had everything they ever wanted!
Then everything began to fall apart when her mutant powers began to show. Casey’s powers came to light one day while she was at school. She noticed that her senses were way more acute then other people. She could hear and smell things that most other people couldn’t. And then sometimes when she looked at herself in the mirror, she coulda sworn she saw one of her gray eyes changing. Of course Casey went to her parents. She didn’t know what was happening. They took her to a few eye doctors who said that everything was fine and so Casey was convinced that she was just seeing things. That maybe she was pushing herself to do too much on too little sleep and it was starting to show. But that wasn’t the case. The change was gradual and in the process of a month her eye had changed colors. It went from gray to a dark green. She was concerned yet Casey still thought she was just seeing things and didn’t bug her parents about it anymore.
But as she went to school, Casey quickly realized that this wasn’t just her. Everyone saw her multi colored eyes. And most didn’t take to it too well. This was a very practical town with very practical and realistic people. They didn’t take to strangeness too well. As a matter of fact it was safe to say that they didn’t like changes. They liked their town the way it was and they were determined to keep it that way. And Casey was definitely an oddball now! But the girl learned to push away the jibes…ignore them though they did get to her after a while. She had better things to be worrying about right now then some kids who couldn’t except that she looked a bit different then they did. Though she couldn’t help but feel like a freak but her parents were there to comfort her. They guided her though this tough time.
Then one day a group of five kids had cornered her. This group had always been teasing her about her eyes calling her ‘freak’ and things to that nature. To be honest they were just a bunch of bullies who thrived off of making other people hurt emotionally. So of course they were teasing her mercilessly about her eyes and calling her horrible names. Casey tried ignoring them it but it was hard. And then that was when she snapped. She had had enough of them! Couldn’t they just leave her alone?! She had shifted into a Grey Wolf and attacked one of the students—the leader of said group—leaving him with a badly broken leg. After the attack immediately she fled into the woods not sure of what had happened. All she knew was that her face, head and chest were covered in blood and that someone was hurt. It was all such a blur! Then she saw her reflection in the water of the lake and was horrified. She was a wolf! It was then Casey put two and two together and figured out that she was a mutant.
Casey eventually snuck home a few days later still stuck as a wolf. Unfortunately for her she couldn’t talk as a wolf. So she couldn’t face her parents like this! What was she gonna do?! So she hid out for a week in her room not leaving the house and trying to figure out what to do. She did eventually turn back into a human after two more days. That’s when she discovered the particularly nasty side effects to her powers. She was very, very skinny and dang near about ready to pass out from exhaustion. So she cleaned herself up and went to confront her parents. She wasn’t sure how they would take this but she couldn’t keep this from them. So she had explained everything that had happened from the attack to that moment. Though her parents were very giving and accepted their daughter’s mutation, Casey wasn’t as sure about this new change. It was only a week later when she discovered her brother was a mutant as well. He was a pyrokinetic able to create and control fire from the coolest to the hottest. He had accidentally set fire to an old abandoned railway station. Lance had been hiding out in there to get away from some other kids who were mocking him and just being all around jerks toward him. Lucky for them it was abandoned. No one got hurt though the station was destroyed.
But the people were not happy! There were not one but two mutants in their town! This was unacceptable! So they shunned Casey and Lance…basically treated them like dirt. All of their so called best friends had deserted them. They wouldn’t hang out with them nor would they even talk to them. Their parents fearing for their childrens' safety took them out of public school where their mom began to home school them. But Casey and Lance adjusted to it mostly. They had each other. The sibling bond between the two only grew stronger as they no longer had anyone else to talk to. They became each other’s best friend…well only friend was more like it. But they told each other everything. And they could relate to each other to being mutants and all. They become stronger.
But that wasn’t the end of it. No it was far from it. She didn't know it nor did her parents or her brother, but their grandparents were against mutants too. They were just your typical old people who didn’t like change. That came to no surprise in this town seeing as everybody hated change! Casey shoulda seen it coming though. The whole damn town was against strange abnormal stuff and being a mutant was about as strange as you could get! And they wanted the strange things gone! So her grandparents...part of her family...the ones that are supposed to show her unconditional love...they turned the whole town into a mob. It was a muggy night in July of 2002. That's when the mob took action. They went to the Taverniers' house and broke in. They wanted to kill Casey and her brother...but her parents stood up for them. Defended them...and they paid the ultimate price for it. The mob was so outraged and so determined to get to Casey and Lance that it didn't matter who they killed in the process. So Casey and Lance could only watch as their parents died right before their eyes. Devastated, the siblings did the only thing they knew to do. They ran as fast and as far as they possibly could.
They had heard of a special school in New York for students with special talents such as theirs. And so they decided to go to this school and see if it was up to snuff. Because they knew they had to get out of Houston before the whole city was turned against them. But there was a problem. They had no way to get out. No car, no money…no nothing other then their own two feet. So they did the only thing that they knew to do. They decided to hike the over 1,400 miles from Houston to New York. If it meant getting to a place where they didn’t have to leave in fear, then they were all for it. But the half continental hike was way tougher then either one of them thought it would be. Casey being the elder sibling felt it was her responsibility to protect Lance and help them survive. She became a thief stealing money and food whenever she could. It worked for a good while there and even though it wasn't enough food to satisfy their hunger or enough money to buy new clothes, it was enough to keep them alive. But Casey's way of survival came to bite her in the ass one night. She was sneaking into a house through their open screen door. She had gotten into the house and has stolen several packages of lunch meat and two loaves of bread. She was just about to leave when she had gotten caught! He was gonna call the cops. Casey begged and pleaded with him not to. She didn't want to get caught for fear of being found mutant and killed. But the man was still gonna call the cops. So Casey in her blind fear took a carving knife the family had used during dinner that night and stabbed the man in the chest. He hit the ground with a sickening thud...and the coppery smell of blood...the sound of him choking on his own blood. Horrified Casey just took the food and ran. The memory of that night would haunt her for the rest of her life.
So three months later in October of 2002, they finally made it. They were half starved, clothes torn and emotionally exhausted. But they made it! They were finally in New York. And boy was it a culture shock. It was so different then Houston. All of the people and all of the building and different places. It was a very different experience for them. But then chaos struck as Casey and her brother were separated by a mass of people. She thought it would be best to find the sanctuary first then go look for him. It didn't take her long to find this safe haven and get acquainted with Aisilyn. And now she is on a mission to find her brother before something terrible happens to him.All of them one to one hundred.
